On January 20 and 21, 2011 leaders from the United Nations, Member States, and global corporate management gathered together with hundreds of Youth Leaders from around the world to advance the realization of 8 UN Millennium Development Goals.  The 8th Youth Assembly at the United Nations (YA) was, by all measure, a resounding success. EACT led a Chinese delegation of 8 outstanding young representatives to attend the YA. They considered the 8th YA as,

"Possibly one of the best among the Youth Assemblies"
"One of the best conferences I have ever attended"

The 8th YA was designed and implemented as the MDG Executive Session for Young Professionals. The YA's "Executive Session" focused young professionals on social entrepreneurship (SE) and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Major corporate leaders, Member State chiefs, and UN staff mixed with nearly 400 YA youth delegates from around the world. Below are comments from main guest speakers,

"The world can and needs to hear from our young leaders, not out of compassion or kindness, but rather out of necessity. Their vision is our future."

                                                                                   - Tom Kadala, President, ResearchPAYS, Inc.

"...Like the honey bee cross pollinates flowers to yield more resilient and beautiful species, the CSR process must acknowledge, reference, and facilitate the sharing of best practices from various settings to yield quality output ..."

                                                                                    - From the address of Ambassador Dr. Josephine Ojiambo
Permanent Mission of Kenya to the United Nations

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE EVENT

Major, corporate social responsibility and MDG addresses by:
- Ambassador Gary Quinlan, Mission of Australia to the U.N.

Conversations on corporate responsibility and the MDGs, with special focus on youth involvement by Sustainability Directors and staff from Merck Pharmaceutical, PepsiCo, and Citicorp - all UN Global Compact Members.

Fascinating, hands-on think tanks aimed at awarding 15 actual scholarships to Tangshan Technical College (near Beijing, China). Facilitated by 'serial entrepreneur' Tom Kadala and using a form of the Harvard Case Study Method, delegates actually got to assist in the adjudication development process.

Social Entrepreneurs from Harvard University, NYU's Reynolds's Master Program in SE, from the worlds of travel and bio-energy development gave a variety of plenary and workshop presentations that enabled the delegates to focus on the possibility of social enterprise in their own MDG development plans back home.

Leading staff from the UN Development Programme, the NGOs formally affiliated with the UN, and youth leaders working in the field ad weight and controversy to each day's programming.
